Loeb has 5 victories in 5 events...another record to set?

Sebastien Loeb completed his Rally Argentina campaign with a fifth consecutive victory this season.
In regards to the closing super special stage, which was held in front of over 16,000 cheering rally fans gathered at the Cordoba Stadium, Sebastien Loeb and Dani Sordo symbolically signed their Rally Argentina victory with a one-two result at the 2.4-kilometre inner gravel circuit.

Loeb's five wins out of five rallies so far in 2009 not only continues his perfect points score, but his championship lead on Mikko Hirvonen has now grown to 20 points with seven events to go this season.
"A very nice rally," Loeb declared, underlining "a very good fight with Mikko" before the Ford driver's retirement on Saturday.
From that point on Loeb only had to control his solid lead - a situation which took away some of the anticipation, the five-time Rally Argentina winner recognised: "Less exciting but a great fight (until that point)."

Keeping constant pace, Dani Sordo completed the Citroen World Rally Team's one-two victory in Argentina. "A really good performance," said the Spaniard. "A very good job for the championship."

The third step of the Argentinean podium went to the Stobart Ford team's Henning Solberg, who benefited from attrition but also succeeded in safely navigating through the numerous traps of the rally to reach the finish line. "I worked hard this week-end," the Norwegian stated. "I'm happy!"

Cheered on by his fans over the entire event, local favourite Federico Villagra took a WRC career-best of fourth place overall. "It's a really good feeling to get this result in front of the home crowd. This was an excellent rally," added the Munchi's Ford driver. "I have to thank the team and the people."

After fighting out all week-end with Villagra, Matthew Wilson claimed fifth position for the Stobart Ford operation.
"It was a very tough rally, but interesting," the Briton declared, pleased yet also disappointed with his final position on the leaderboard. "It would have been nice to finish in fourth."

In sixth place overall, Jari-Matti Latvala started the day with the goal of simply securing his place on the third step of the podium for the works Ford team, but a fuel pressure problem put an end to that plan during this morning's opening run. "It's been a very, very tough rally for me," stated Latvala. "Of course I am disappointed," the Finn added. "I made a few mistakes and we also had bad luck."

While The Citroen team leaves Argentina on a high, the Ford team will be looking closely at its disastrous week-end following Mikko Hirvonen's engine trouble and subsequent retirement, in addition to Latvala's fuel line mishap.

Ford will surely be reconsidering its approach to the 2009 championship before the WRC reconvenes from May 22nd to 24th for Rally d'Italia Sardegna...
