Four
times champ S'en Loeb increased his lead in the ADAC
Rally Deutschland -Germany- and cruises into victory.
The
Frenchman was fastest in seven of Saturday's eight stages
and will go into Sunday's final leg with a lead of 40.3
seconds over Citroen team mate Daniel Sordo of Spain.
The
team is close to the first 1-2 of the year.
Loeb,
who trails overall leader Hirvonen by one point, followed
up his clean sweep of Friday's stages to register the
quickest times in all but the last of Saturday's sections. "It's
been a very good day," the
Frenchman said. "The important
thing is I have a good lead and it's looking very positive.
I'm not taking any big risks, just concentrating on keeping
a good rhythm and having fun."
Loeb's title rival Mikko Hirvonen was fourth in his
Ford, one minute 48.2 seconds adrift, after the Finn
suffered a puncture on the last stage.
Hirvonen was overtaken
by Belgian Francois Duval of Stobart Ford who climbed
into third spot, one minute 44.3 seconds off the pace. The
finn told: "I didn't have any
rhythm and made many small mistakes. I didn't trust my
pace notes first time through the stages so I was too
cautious and that's where I lost time. If there was a
cut at a corner, I seemed to back off to see how slippery
it was. I need to be braver and I didn't have the confidence
to drive flat out like yesterday. No matter how hard
I drove, I couldn't match Sordo's times.
The only difference
from yesterday was that the stages had different characteristics.
They were more like race circuit roads. On the final
stage I hit a hole and the broken concrete punctured
the rear tyre. I drove the final 8km on the wheel rim.
I would have been happy to clear that stage and settle
for third tomorrow. I dropped 45sec but there was no
way I could have stopped to change it in that time so
I made the right decision to continue.
Now I need to
fight against Duval tomorrow and that won't be easy."
Norway's Subaru nr.1 driver Petter Solberg
remained fifth behind HIrvonen, and gave his imopressions
on the performance of the brand new Impreza:
"I didn't have any rhythm and
